Screenserver - probably a misspelling of the word screensaver.
A screensaver is a computer program initially designed to conserve the image quality of computer display by blanking the screen or filling it with moving pictures or patterns when the computer is not in use. Nowadays, screenservers are primarily for entertainment. Screenserver software has been adjusted as a security measure as well. Many of them can be programmed for asking users for a password (it is called "locking the workstation") before permitting them to resume work. Moreover, some screenservers activate useful background tasks, such as virus scans or distributed computing applications.
Screenservers are not to be confused with power management features, which posit the computer in a low power state if it has been idle for a certain period of time.
